Funimation announced recently that it had acquired the rights to the 52-episode Full Metal Alchemist anime series. Full Metal Alchemist is slated to debut on the Cartoon Network this October and will be released on DVD in January 2005. A video game based on the series is also in the works by Square-Enix, the makers of the popular Final Fantasy series, which should hit store shelfs by the spring of 2005. Full Metal Alchemist was produced by Studio Bones and originally aired in Japan in 2003.
