According to Variety, Genndy Tartakovsky (creator of Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, and Powerpuff Girls) will reportedly work with Sony's Columbia Pictures to write and direct the Astroboy live action film adaptation, which has been stuck in development hell since being announced back in 2002. The film is being produced in part by Don Murphy, who is coincidently involved with bringing another anime classic to the silver screen, Tranformers. Don Murphy has set up message boards to field comments and suggestions for both films on his website.

We'll continue to follow this story as it develops.
