Likely to avoid being confused with a certain barbarian, FUNimation has decided change the name of the "Detective Conan" anime series to "Case Closed" due to "legal considerations" before it premiers on Cartoon Network on June 7th, airing Mondays-Thursdays. However, the name the series' central character, Conan Edogawa, will remain as is. Conan Edogawa's name pays homage to Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes; and Edogawa Rampo, a leading author of Japanese detective stories. The official Case Closed website can be viewed here.
Surpassing the 350-episode mark, Detective Conan still remains one of Japan's most-watched anime TV series.
